Enjoy a walk in the last intact South Bay vernal pool grassland and immerse in the beauty of vernal pools! Stepping into the green grassland, embracing the sights, sounds, and smells of spring, we will explore the treasures of vernal pools, admire beautiful flowers, discover unusual plants, and learn about the special inhabitants of this treasured grassland. Learn about the history, management, and significance of this sensitive habitat in your local National Wildlife Refuge (NWR), in south Fremont.

Tours will occur at the Warm Springs Unit of the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay NWR at 9am and 12pm. The walking tours will each last about 2 hours. Total walking distance will not exceed two miles, but terrain is uneven. Participants may have to climb a three step-stile (ladder). Please wear sturdy shoes and dress according to the weather. Heavy rain will cancel.
