Help us reimagine the Environmental Education Center at Don Edwards SFBNWR, Alviso.

Join us for an exciting evening as we come together craft a new vision for the future of the Environmental Education Center at Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge. This in-person workshop will take place on Tuesday, June 18 at 6:30 PM (Pacific Standard Time).

Location: Multipurpose Room at George Mayne Elementary School, North First Street, Alviso, CA, USA

We are ready to share a refined design concept based on the input we received from you at our first two community workshops held earlier this year. Come see what we what we've come up with and let us know if we are on the right track.

At community workshop # 1, people shared why they visit the refuge, what they value about the current facility, and what types of spaces would benefit the community in the future. At workshop #2, community members gave feedback on several early design options and discussed different site approaches. Our next step at community meeting #3 is to share a refined design concept for the EEC with you to hear your thoughts. Kids and families welcome!

The existing Environmental Education Center building was built in 1979 and has hosted thousands of programs for students and families for over 40 years. It has served us well over the last 40 years, but the main building and surrounding public spaces need revitalization and updating. Many modifications are needed. For instance, we would like to make the facility more "green" and provide safe access to people of all abilities. We desire to improve the public's experience at the Center and ensure that this place remains a community asset for many decades to come. In order to do that we need to hear from you about what you like about the existing place and what ideas you have to make it a more enjoyable place to visit. We plan on hosting at least one more workshop in the coming months. Keep an eye out for the event announcements at https://www.fws.gov/refuge/don-edwards-san-francisco-bay/about-us. You can also email us at Alviso_eec@fws.gov.

Together, let's create a vibrant and engaging space that inspires future generations to appreciate and protect our natural world. Don't miss out on this chance to be part of the transformation!
