Sounds from the Refuge: A Summer Update

As we roll along into the hot summer here at the Environmental Education Center, we hope you can come and enjoy the cool breeze on the marsh with us! Construction on The South San Francisco Bay Shoreline Project has continued – for the next couple of months expect to hear increased construction noise around the Center as important levee reinforcement is done.

In the lulls in the construction (if you listen closely!) you can hear the quiet hum of nature along the paths. While we are hard at work revitalizing the Butterfly Garden, Black-Necked Stilts and Avocets are also hard at work feeding in the shallows. We even spotted a Ridgway’s Rail along one of the slough banks! The Boardwalk Trail and Marsh View Trail remain open, so we’ll see you out there!
