On #GivingTuesday 2023 help us conserve and preserve the essential wildlife habitat of the San Francisco Bay
San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society wants to wish you all happy holidays. No matter what holiday you may celebrate, as we all gather this season, we share the common values of gratitude, compassion, and giving.
#GivingTuesday, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, falling on November 28, 2023 this year, has become a day to support not-for-profit organizations.
We hope you will consider the San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge Complex with a donation to the San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society through PayPal (or you can send a check).
Giving thanks
SFBWS is grateful that we have continued to connect with our communities during these last few difficult years. Through these challenges, we have persevered to provide accessible, engaging, and meaningful programs to local schools, organizations, and community members. Our goal is always to foster stewardship of the San Francisco Bay NWR Complex, model sustainability, protect our baylands for endangered species, promote climate resilience, and, most importantly, bring folks together to complete this work. And it is your generous support that has allowed us to continue to do so.
#GivingTuesday
Today is #GivingTuesday, a movement of radical generosity that embodies the true meaning of the holiday season. It is a day dedicated to giving back, paying it forward, and bettering our communities. We hope you will consider us in your giving plan for the end of the year. This year, we are using Mighty Cause so that you can choose which cause you may like to support. https://www.mightycause.com/organization/San-Francisco-Bay-Wildlife-Society.

About Us
The San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) Friends group, authorized by Congress to support the education, interpretation, and research activities of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Help us in our mission to promote public awareness and appreciation of the San Francisco Bay and its natural history, and to conserve and preserve the remaining bay lands as essential wildlife habitat.
Donate
Your support of our education, interpretation, and research activities is more important than ever. Any amount you’re willing to donate this #GivingTuesday will be greatly appreciated! Donations may be fully tax-deductible (EIN: 94-3039253).
Our impact
The San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society works to fund educational events, research and exhibits in cooperation with local, regional and state agencies. With federal cut-backs to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service budget, your funding of our environmental programs is very welcome.
For over 35 years, the San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society has:
- Introduced the refuge to tens of thousands of students of all ages
- Helped fund the Bair Island restoration and Management Plan, restoration work at Antioch Dunes NWR, and uplands restoration at the Environmental Education Center
- Provided weekend staff in Alviso through long-term partnerships with the City of San Jose and the Santa Clara Valley Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program
- Provided funding for a new boardwalk at the New Chicago Marsh Trail at the Environmental Education Center
- Funded a new greenhouse
- Provided funds to create a native plant nursery
- And much more
Take a visual tour of our achievements over the years and help us with our mission by donating to the Society.
Giving Back
Are you and your employer looking to give back to your communities and make it a better place to live? Then we have an opportunity for you! The San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society accepts corporate gifts from companies wishing to develop relationships with the local community. If you and your company, or even your friends and family’s companies, are interested in volunteerism, environmental education, and habitat restoration for flood protection, cleaner air and cleaner water, send us the contact information for your company’s community involvement and charitable giving division. It’s a great way for employees to connect their companies with the organizations that they are passionate about. You can also stretch your dollars by having your employer match your contribution to the San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society by participating in the Society’s matching gift program.
In addition, the San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society can arrange presentations for interested companies to learn more about the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge and its programs, invite companies out for a tour, or coordinate volunteer activities at the refuge as part of team building exercises. Please email mary.deschene@sfbayws.org about your company’s programs for community involvement and charitable giving.
