Volunteer Opportunity: Habitat Restoration Work Day at the EEC – Alviso
Help us improve the trails around the EEC through habitat restoration or other stewardship activities. Join us in this habitat restoration volunteer opportunity to help the educational native plant gardens at the EEC!
Help us with maintain and improve the habitat and trails at the Environmental Education Center at the Don Edwards SF Bay NWR! Activities may include mulching weed-prone areas, removing invasive plants, picking up litter, maintaining trails, or spreading native seeds to prepare for spring! All gloves and tools will be provided, so just make sure to dress comfortably and bring a can-do attitude.
Please arrive promptly at 9:20am to allow time for check-in before we get started.
Please note, volunteers under the age of 16 will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Other Considerations:
* We expect the weather to be windy and variable, so we encourage everyone to wear comfortable clothing, long pants, warm layers, and sturdy closed-toe shoes - all that you don't mind getting a little dirty!
* Restrooms will be available on-site in the form of an ADA-compliant portable toilet and hand-washing station.
* Reusable water bottles are a huge plus and are a great step to reducing plastic pollution. We will have a water refill station available.
* If you need any accommodations or would like to know more about volunteer hours, please don't hesitate to reach out to watershedwatchers@sfbayws.org.
* Driving Directions: We recommend using Google Maps and mapping to the "Environmental Education Center (EEC)" or 1751 Grand Blvd, Alviso, CA 95002.
This program is brought to you by the San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society (SFBWS) and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service with support from the Santa Clara Valley Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program (SCVURPPP).
